What’s the Last Date to Apply for IGNOU 2025?

The most important thing to keep in mind when it comes to the admission process of any school, college, or university out there is the important dates to mark down. Like, you just don’t want to miss out on the admission process and ruin your year just because you didn’t care to know what the last date or important dates were, right? So, here:

If you think you’re already late, well, there is kinda good news for you, see, the last date to apply for IGNOU admission (January 2025 session) has been extended to 31st March 2025. And sure enough, this is the deadline for most courses like UG, PG, Diploma, and Certificate programs, just saying!

  • Start Date: 12th December 2024
  • Last Date (Extended): 31st March 2025
  • Re-registration also ends on: 31st March 2025

What Documents Do You Need?

Sure, there are some documents you’ll need to apply for IGNOU admissions, and we’d just say that you should keep these documents by your side, in digital form, ready to be uploaded anytime. Here’s the list:

  • Passport-size photo
  • Scanned signature
  • 10th & 12th mark sheets
  • UG/PG degree (if applying for PG)
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC)
  • Aadhar card or any valid ID proof
  • Experience certificate (if required)
  • DEB ID and ABC ID (we’ll explain below)

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Explained In The Simplest Way)

See, depending upon which course you want to pursue once you get in the IGNOU, there are different eligibility criteria you must meet. Like:

For UG Courses:

  • Must have passed Class 12 (10+2)
  • No entrance exam needed

For PG Courses:

  • Should have a Bachelor’s degree; that’s a must!
  • And yes, a minimum of 50% marks is needed for some PG courses like MBA

For B.Ed & Post Basic Nursing:

  • With this one, though, the entrance exam is required
  • Ed needs teaching experience (optional)
  • Nursing needs GNM diploma + 2 years experience

For Ph.D.:

  • Need a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks
  • And sure, to get in, you must clear IGNOU’s entrance exam

What’s This DEB ID & ABC ID Everyone’s Talking About?

Well, there is a slightly different thing with IGNOU admissions, you see, if you’re applying for any Online or ODL (Distance) course at IGNOU, you must create two IDs:

1. ABC ID (Academic Bank of Credit):

Well, this one is simple, and you can create it via DigiLocker. Just visit the digilocker.gov.in website to create this one.

2. DEB ID (Distance Education Bureau):

Once you have your ABC ID, you can go ahead and create the DEB ID by visiting deb.ugc.ac.in

And if you’re still wondering like what you should create these IDs, well, for now, just know that without these, you can’t complete your admission! Plain and simple!

How to Fill Out the IGNOU Admission Form Online

Yes, you can easily fill up the admission application form for IGNOU, and that too, just by following a few steps online. Here:

  • First up, of course, you’d have to visit the official website of the IGNOU, and for this admission process, just visit this one: https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in/
  • On the home screen, you’ll see a button on the top left corner of the screen that says something like “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION.” So just do what it says.
  • In order to register to the portal, just enter all your basic details and after registration, just log back into the portal.
  • Now what? Well, next up, you’ll see an option related to the admission process, so just give it a click, choose your course, fill in your personal and academic details, and then proceed to the next.
  • What’s the next step? Oh, remember those documents we talked about? Now’s the time to upload whatever document is required, like photo, certificates, etc.)
  • Next, you’ll have to pay the application fee, which is ₹300 for most courses and ₹500 or ₹1000 for some PG Diplomas and B.Ed.
  • And the last step would be to just hit that submit button and download the confirmation. And that is pretty much it.
